Mountain Green

Super exciting news this week......I am spilling the beans! (Sorry Sean.) We put money down on a lot in Mountain Green! Our lot will only be a few houses down from Mindy and Steve. Nothing is set in stone yet, and there are still a lot of things to work out, (getting land and construction loans, etc.) But, if all goes well, we will be moving ahead with the build process and selling our house here in Texas in the next 3 months. I have attached a few pictures of our view from our neighborhood, along with a diagram of where our lot is located. We love Mountain Green. For those of you who have never been there, it is so peaceful and the pictures truly do not do it justice. Not to mention, we are thrilled to be moving to such a diverse recreational area. Snow skiing? 10 minutes away. Water-skiing? 10 minutes away. Biking and hiking? Just walk outside. Camping? Super close-by! Sean and I have adopted a more healthy lifestyle for our family to live by, and living in Mountain Green will greatly increase our chances of getting healthy and staying that way for life. (Topic for another blog entry....coming very soon.) Anyway, we are excited for this welcome (and needed) change in our lives. Moving across the country (both our family and a business) will be challenging, selling our house here in Texas will be challenging, building a home from scratch will be WAY challenging, but I think we are more than up to the challenge. Anything that is worthwhile in this life requires a little risk and a lot of work. I will be posting pictures of our floor plan we designed soon too! Wish us success!

Our lot (the middle blue one with a black star) is roughly 1/3 of an acre, right in front of a park, and has some absolutely breathtaking views from the front.
See how close we are to the Caldwells?

Weber canyon...on the other side is Layton and Hill AFB, where Sean and I met.

This angle is exactly how it'll look out our front windows.
The hill to the left is where the Golf course is going to be.

Looking at Snow Basin ski resort to the right of our lot.

This photo is looking at where all the houses will eventually be built.

Your momma's doin' the happy dance tonight! Mathis family is moving home to Utah...an incredible joy for the rest of us already in Utah! This is a little miracle, for sure. Hope all goes very well in the house-selling and lot-buying phase you're entering. It's gonna get crazy, ya know. I really feel like all will go smoothly in this transition. WE LOVE YOU ALL...can't wait to see you more often! The surrounding scenes you took pictures of in Mt. Green looks so serene and beautiful. CAN'T WAIT FOR YOU TO GET HERE! Love you--love you--

I did not take those photos...I found them on the cottonwoods website. The ones I took are covered in snow, and still so beautiful! I will post them, too.

It's almost a shame that last one is going to be covered with houses!

I know, Jen. There is still many places like this close-by to experience.....plenty of unspoiled nature left to enjoy. (Utah is still the best kept secret) Shhh.

Congrats Mathis Family! It will be fun to get to see you more often.

And hey! As long as you're building houses and up to new challenges, would you mind coming over and installing a fence in our backyard and fixing a few plumbing issues in your spare time? ;)

jk. congrats again!

Hey, hey Mathis'!!!!

Hooray for Utah! I am glad it is going to work out for you guys in Mountain Green. So is this the original lot you guys were going to get earlier, or is it a different one? Either way, it's gonna be great to have a park across the street... that will prove to be so valuable.

So Mike just accused me of being a closet blogger... which I am, no question. So until I get my own going I will at least try to post more on all of yours. Thanks for being so diligent! I love how the world of blogging is keeping all of us so much better connected.

Lydia,
It is actually two lots down from the original one we wanted. (Lot 26 vs. Lot 24). We are glad that Mountain Green is working out after all. I think that's the primary reason Sean said yes to moving to Utah--he fell in love with MG. (Not that having lots of family close-by is a bad thing either.)

I am super excited to have you guys so close! Now we can have our TV night at your & Mindy's houses!!! It is so beautiful up there, I know you will really enjoy it.

Jenny, we have been up to MG for the last two days in a row. It has been warmer (upper 40-low 50 ish), clear and SO pretty. Your lot is amazing! There are holes being dug everywhere around your lot. There have been problems getting permits in our area of the development, so no one is building there yet. We're frustrated, but SUPER excited that things are moving along for you guys!! Yeah! Keep us posted.
